At the Critics Choice Awards in 2019, Nicole Kidman approached the cast of Schitt’s Creek, confessed her love of the show and posed for pictures with the actors. It was quite a red-carpet moment for Dan and Sarah Levy, Annie Murphy, Noah Reid and Emily Hampshire and one that received adorable attention online.
For Hampshire, specifically, it produced a special kind of feeling that she said is very similar to the emotions that washed over her when Cutwater Spirits approached her to star in the brand’s newest ad campaign. The actress, who played desk clerk Stevie Budd on the Emmy Award-winning series, said yes and she’ll debut in a 30-second spot on Super Bowl Sunday well as digital takeovers and a social media campaign.
The campaign, which casts her as a “Cut Out” enthusiast, is meant to reinforce the practice of cutting away from the daily routine as a way to embrace the idea of taking a moment to unplug. “I don’t do a lot of commercials because it takes a brave brand to want a human sloth like me, some might say, to endorse them,” Hampshire quipped during a virtual meet and greet with media on Thursday. “It’s also the best feeling when you’re a fan of someone or something and they are a fan of yours.”
Speaking of, Hampshire said she loves Cutwater’s vodka mule, calling it “the classiest canned cocktail I’ve ever had.” As for her big tips for how best to enjoy Super Bowl Sunday, Hampshire said she sees it as the perfect opportunity to stay home and stay safe. “Another pro tip is to avoid pants that don’t accommodate snacks and keep Cutwater on ice within arms-reach.”
